The Astoria Symphony opens its 6th season with a remarkable program. Mirand Cuckson performs Alban Berg's haunting Violin Concerto, and Mexican composer Silvestre Revueltas' tour de force La Noche de los Mayas closes the concert in honor of Hispanic heritage month. New works by New York City composers Steve Horowitz and Angelica Negron round out this program.

This new version of Prokofiev's Peter & the Wolf will keep you laughing the entire time as each of the characters takes the witness stand and faces intense cross-examination in order to determine what exactly happened to the duck. The Astoria Symphony presents its first ballet performance ever! This collaboration with Long Island City Ballet (Eric Ragan, director) will feature new choreography to the music of J. S. Bach, Copland, and Stravinsky, plus the world premiere of Chunjie Ge ("Spring Song Festival") - inspired by the modern Chinese art of Shanye Huang and with music composed by our own music director, Silas Huff.

Craig Schulman is the only actor in the United States to have portrayed the Phantom in The Phantom Of The Opera, Jean Valjean in Les Miserables, and the title roles in Jekyll & Hyde. He has also played Che in Evita, Tevye in Fiddler on the Roof, and Archibald in The Secret Garden. Mr. Schulman will be accompanied by the Astoria Symphony as he sings hits from his signature roles on Broadway.
